How to Make a Doggie Birthday Cake in 11 Steps
Our dog, Boomer, turned 11 so we wanted to make him a cake. I chose this recipe because it had easily available ingredients that I didn't mind cooking with my dishes - no dogfood in my muffin tins thanks! They turned out great! I did make them muffin sized but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. Boomer LOVED them! It is amazing how he seemed to know we made them just for him! We called them his birthday "pupcakes". Thanks for the great recipe! Dogs can eat nearly anything that humans can without too much disturbance to their digestive systems. However, when it comes to birthday cakes, there is one factor of which to be aware. A luscious chocolate cake might seem like a terrific idea, especially if you intend to share with your pooch, but you should be aware that chocolate is slightly toxic to dogs and will likely make your pet sick if you use the real thing. If you're convinced the birthday pup wants chocolate, then substitute carob instead. Carob dog cakes are nearly as good as real chocolate cake, and you can still have a slice to celebrate with your furry friend. Did someone say cake? Celebrate your pup's birthday with a homemade cake that will make tails wag! Share with us how you celebrate your dog's birthday, & check out our brand new birthday collection:
Note from the vet: Treats should make up no more than 10% of pet's diet. Ensure peanut butter that does not contain xylitol, an artificial sweetener toxic to pets. Do not serve to pets that are allergic or sensitive to any of the ingredients, or require low-fat diets.Happy birthday to Amelia! Before getting my lil Abby back in January, I had no idea how much love I could feel for a dog. It’s amazing. They’re amazing. So crazy, ridiculous, infuriating but every single moment is worth it. My pup is turning one in November and I’m throwing her a party (naturally). I’m definitely going to make this cake. Thanks for sharing! I hope Amelia enjoyed every delicious bite.
