Review Of The Gnawtlers Premium Elk Antlers For Dogs - Coach Helder
Dec 27, 2011 - Over the past couple years we've been hearing rave reviews about deer antlers for dogs
I have a 5 year old, 70 pound Boxer and a 9 month old, 85 pound (so far) Rottweiler. Both are heavy chewers and I was sick of them chewing through my furniture and the so-called "indestructible" toys. I've even ordered antlers from other sites before and my dogs go through them in 10 minutes! So I decided to give Mountain Dog Chews a try. I will admit, I was skeptical because all I saw were GOOD reviews... But I thought, what the heck... Can't be any worse than what has already failed the chew test at my house. I got a large split and an X-large whole and a medallion for the 2 pound price and finally got exactly what I was looking for!!! They love them! And they are lasting! I've had them almost a month and they look like they have barely chewed into them! I'm in love! Thank you Mountain Dog Chews! You've just earned yourself a new customer :)
? We chose to put this sixth of the best dog chews because it had a size constraint—only for very small dogs—so we didn’t want to place it above other, more far-reaching antlers. Jim Hodges is the company I listed as my #1 best dog chew, actually, so these are of just as high a quality. It's been said online that Jim Hodges company cares deeply about their customers and if there are complaints, they work to resolved them personally. Customers were satisfied with the company and and claimed that their small dogs, who previously had struggled to find an for them, loved these antler chews and were super entertained by them.

Are Elk Antlers For Dogs A Good Chew Toy? - Puppy In Training
Premium elk antler chews (like the ones reviewed in this article), come from wild elk living in the United States. The elk roam in the wild, shed their antlers annually, and the antlers are collected by companies that package and market them as chews for dogs.? These second best dog chews are just as high a quality as the first, but the antler doesn’t last quite as long according to customer reviews on Amazon, so that’s why it had to take the secondary spot. Make sure you choose a size up if your dog is an . A woman with a 25-pound terrier chose the medium sized and it still lasted after a month (she chose the medium instead of the small). These antlers for dogs may seem shorter than expected, but they are still a great chew for your Fido and will provide lots of entertainment for him or her.Cons: Reviewers with negative comments were upset with the quality of the antler, with some saying it was too hard for the dog to chew (which might indicate that these are especially ). However, other owners found the antlers too easy to break apart, so it likely depends on your dog’s chewing strength. These are a great price for medium-sized, center-cut antlers. Usually, I have to pay $25.00 at my pet store for comparable antlers, and the ones sold at Petco/Pet Smart are less quality and more expensive.
Only problem is that these are not as "fresh" as the ones sold at my pet store (they buy them whole and split them), so my dog will lose interest a little quicker. The upside is that they last longer, and the "fresh" ones from the pet store last maybe two or three days since my dog will work on them for hours.

Thank you for your review. We source all of our elk antlers in the spring after the elk shed them in March and April. All our antlers come from Wyoming, Montana, Utah and Idaho. Given the Elk only shed their antlers once a year and we cut the antlers ourselves here as the orders come in, they are as fresh as you can get. Right now all the elk antlers we are cutting for Dog Chews are from the 2016 spring shedding season, the antlers are stored in proper conditions to retain freshness and again, we cut daily to ensure the outgoing products are as fresh as possible.
Could it be that the antlers from your pet store that your dog is able to chew quickly are not necessarily more fresh, but simply lighter weight and less dense which typically means Dogs will consume more antler daily because of the softer antler?
Most retailers have no idea where their antlers come from or how old they really are. We are involved in the sourcing and processing of the antlers from the beginning to the end, and are able to control the quality to a much greater extent than anyone else in the industry.
